KEEPING YOUR NAILS BEAUTIFUL ON THE BEACH – TIPS FROM A MAUI NAIL SALON

There is nothing like spending time at the beach. You’ll feel relaxed, rejuvenated, and refreshed. While there is no place quite like the beaches of Maui, you’ll need to take extra precaution to keep those nails looking salon fresh and perfect for your wedding day.

Here’s how to do it:

Relax and Put Your Feet Up

Nail polish can take up to twenty-four hours to dry completely. So instead of going right from your favorite Maui nail salon to the beach volleyball court, relax and chill out for at least one day. Plop down that beach chair, put up the umbrella, and sip your favorite libation. Nail chips and smears typically happen when you’re out and about too much within the first day of your polish, so just relax and take it easy – your nails will thank you.

Stay Dry

The first 12-24 hours post-mani/pedi is critical. Heat and water can affect the hardening process so you’ll want to avoid hot tubs, saunas, pools, and the ocean. This can be difficult, but one quick glance at those gorgeous nails makes it all worth the wait.

Go Barefoot

Shoes are the enemy – at least when it comes to your fresh pedicure. Most Maui nail salons will give you a pair of disposable flip-flops should you forget your own. Go barefoot or go home! That’s the motto. Avoid wearing closed-toe shoes post-pedi.

Use Protection

If you want your nails to survive the beach, go the extra step and protect them with a proper base coat and topcoat. The coatings will provide a foundation to keep the color tight and a finishing touch to prevent chipping, should an accident arise.

Apply in Layers

Super thick coats are only good when you’re at the North Pole. When in Maui, you will want to apply the polish in multiple thin layers while letting it dry in-between. Doing it this way will also give you an idea of what the finished product is going to look like.

Keep it Short

Your Maui nail salon manicure will last longer by keeping your nails shorter. If you like shorter nails anyway, keep doing what you’re doing. If you typically like your nails on the longer side, consider trimming them down a tad to reduce the risk of breakage.
